  • 67th Burstall Annual Flower show and Village Fete 6th. August 2022

After an enforced break of two years caused by you-know-what, our traditional Village Flower Show and Fete takes place on Saturday, 6th. August, and features as usual a line-up of Vehicles of Interest. Though very much a small, low-key display, it will probably include a number of Greeves bikes, predominantly competition models amongst other good-old-British marques. Be there for a thoroughly relaxing day out in good company! No need to book, just turn up. Lunches are served in and around the Village Hall from noon, and a Barby, ice-creams, teas/cakes etc will also be on hand. Regret no bike jumble, though …………… unless you bring your own?.

Please forgive me for "bumping" this thread but thought I should put out a gentle reminder about the forthcoming event, which is now only a week away. In case you're wondering what relevance this is to the GRA, Burstall was, of course, the venue for the debut of our hero, Dave Bickers, into the sport of scrambling in 1954. He did well, winning at his first ever meeting, albeit on a DOT! A model of similar vintage will be in the bike line-up, along with a number of Greeves, and riders from the 1960's will also be in attendance as well as current riders in the Greeves Championship. The display is for Vehicles of Interest and is open to all comers, so you would be most welcome to join us, with or without an addition to our modest little line-up. Road-going bikes especially welcome!
A thoroughly relaxing day out in the Suffolk country-side among Greeves riders, what could be more appealing?
    See you there?

Line-up of happy Greeves Riders with their exhibits in the Interesting Vehicles section at the Burstall Village show 2019. Left-to-right, Brian Sawyers with his well-used Griffon 380, John Runnacles reunited with his Vale-Onslow Hawkstone (AKA "Nellie"), Charlie Berry with his immaculately-restored 20T, Rob Dickerson with his equally-well-prepared 250 Griffon, John Barker with Starmaker-engined Scottish, and Adrian Dickerson with his very-original Hawkstone 250. Best exhibit in the section, judged overall including the 4-wheeled exhibits, was Charlie's 20T, so that was one-up for the bikers this year, and a very well-deserved reward for Charlie's hard work on the 20T.

Well done young Charlie you did a grand job with the restoration you must be well chuffed and a bonus for picking up that award. Also relieved that Brian managed to comb his hair in time .
Didn't make it over to Gosfield today but here’s hoping we might get an update?

Thanks John for spurring us into joining you at this good old village fete.

I was just waiting for the tv cameras and Inspector Barnaby to make an appearance...!

          Hello punchy and john

Was a great show, and a great opportunity to get the bikes on show.....An enjoyable day and was chuffed to bits on getting 1st in show! Hopefully we can get a few more greeves next year?

today's racing was good, the stream made victim to a few bikes and there air filters....

Dave Harper has given me a couple of greeves championship cups to give you john. Will pop them round when convenient for you, can also sort out them forks at the same time.

          Cheers Charlie

Thanks Charlie. Have sent you a PM.

You've "missed a trick", Punchy. …………… John Nettles was present ready to play his part, as Dave Harper will confirm!

Now that our little Show is all done and dusted for another year (its 66th!) just want to say a huge Thank You to all on here who helped make it the success it undoubtably was this time around. As Charlie has said, it would be just great to have even more bikes there next year, although for an event as modest as our little Village Show you really did us proud this year ……….. and you all know who you are. Thank You All!

Incidentally, there was a lot of interest by Joe Public in the bikes line-up ………………….. could probably have sold some Club Memorabilia? Perhaps next year? Put it in your diaries!
