  • Prototype Villiers engine

John Woods has sent me this pic of a prototype Villiers engine seen recently at Simon Bateman's. Casing is finned and matches the engine shown exactly.
The engine is a prototype originally with Rob Carrick stamped PRO330

Clearly a kart engine, don't you think?

Last time I was in Rob's workshop he showed me lots of interesting Villiers material.

In it's heyday the 210 class had a lot of money invested in some strange ideas. Was this one of them? Clearly a big investment in the pattern.

That would have collected a huge amount of mud in a srambler! As Colin says, a Kart development. Having said that, the top bit seems to have found home in several bikes.
