  • Greeves First 'Works Supported' Rider.

At the GRA 25th Anniversary celebrations at Battlesbridge in 2009, I was most fortunate to meet and have an enjoyable natter with Mr John Collin, who was not only responsible for drafting the factory drawings but also the very first rider to recieve competiton support from Greeves.

Attached is a really nice period photograph of J.D. Collin competing in the Cotswold Cup Trial in March 1954, as the first Greeves rider with factory support. Terry Sewell kindly gave me a copy of the pic, which he had kindly reproduced as laminted A3 posters specially for the event after John had signed them.

Thank you Terry, a lovely item, and also for bringing to light this fascinating story from the early days of Greeves trials competition.

If you, or anyone else can add any further information or background on this story (or the picture), it would be wonderful to hear from you!

    Brian.
