  • Villiers 32a lighting coil polarity.

    Good Evening.
I am looking at putting my 24TCS back on the road.
When last registered, I had issues with the lighting. The Brake light worked great on the coil at 9.00 via the smaller twin plug, through a universal switch fitted to the brake rod.
But I could get nothing from the two lighting coil which from memory when separated both had power, but when connected nothing.
I often wondered if it mattered which side of the coil the 'earth' tag should connect to. They may have been on opposite sides.
I actually ran a 7.2v Makita battery in the tool box, which gave me 15mins of lights. Quickly discharging made it real hot, but got me through Aus MOT.
Would any one have any suggestions please ?
    Thank you.

Both sockets are positive earth return via frame, one side of coils is earthed

      Thanks John.
Should the two lighting coils be wired in Parallel or series ?

          Thanks Again John.
My system will be direct lighting, with brake light so no battery or rectifier fitted.
