Racing Machines Database: RAS 105

This is the bike on which Tom Phillips won the 250cc ACU Star for Reading sponsor Frank Higley in 1963. I bought it in 1964 from Eric Stroud, who was responsible for it's maintenance, drawing on the experience gathered from his Greeves exploits off-road. I ran it in many club events, culminating in a ride at the 1965 MGP, where I was black flagged off the circuit at Ramsey due to having split the expansion chamber (not unknown on the earlier racers). Finances forced me to part with it in 1966 but I was fortunate to locate it again a few years ago in the hands of Dave Frost, from whom I subsequently bought it back and I now have to build up an engine to get it running again.
