Hi Simon, the point i was trying to make was that greeves clearly did not put every home market bike down on the home market list....there is obviously a reason?

This looks to be more difficult than I'd hoped - not to say impossible. Bother!

The existence of B 1414, D 1616 and B 1662 confirm that there were a considerable number of 24MX3s numbered higher than the highest UK bike (C 1310).

That's unless Greeves had a completely separate numbering sequence for the exported bikes.

Thanks for the Facebook posting, Brian.

Don't think we'll be able to unravel this I'm afraid - and sadly the same probably applies to the other scrambler models.

There are also some that do not appear to have a '3' or a 'letter' in the number highlighted in following listing I have made. Of course these may be typos from when the numbers were given to me

24MX1030 GRA member UK registered DCK49C

            24MX3A1080 GRA member UK

Just to clarify one of the above "MX1030 reg no DCK49C" does have the "3" after MX must have been a typo as my original reply did include a "3"

So MX31030 is the correct number for my machine.

Good Fortune to all for 2018 & beyond!!

Cheers Colin have corrected that, looks like 24MX1025 & 24MXC1039 should have a 3 as well (heads up Garry B)

                  Heard from Garry 1025 is stamped 24MX1025 (no 3) 24MX3C1309 has a 3,
so looks like some were stamped with a 3 but other not. Bit of a buggers muddle.

Hi John ,did you list the one I found from a auction in 2008 24 MX3C1181.
Not one number below mine (1001) so where did the frame numbers starting at 900 in the Greeves book not Colin's come from?
Are both of Gary's bike imports from US?
                    Simon

Just added it Simon, not sure about Gary's bikes. I think some came fro USA no doubt he will be along to conform. As Colin has found the whole system of numbering on these bikes is a muddle, not like the road & trials bikes which followed in some form of order.

Thanks for that Gary .Funny how higher numbers are export bikes and mine at 1001 is also an export bike.
                          Regards Simon

Just re visiting this thread in light of further info. There appears to be a duplicate for 24MX3A1146, I have this in Denver, USA with Keith ? BUT it has since come to light that Mike Palmer built a 4T engined road special road registered MBJ30D with the same frame number. Maybe the number of the bike in USA is a typo. Be interesting to know where MBJ30D is now, it was apparently sold on eBay to someone in Suffolk in June 2016 for ?1507 and currently on SORN
