  • My search for a subframe for MDS

Does anyone know where I could get a subframe for a MDS?
Failing that, can anyone post me a photo of said subframe?
    Thanks in anticipation.

    MDS subframe

There's a nice picture of one in Colin's book, page 80.

That is correct, despite it being described as a 1960 SCS subframe.....

Do you have the book? Well worth buying if not, as a mine of chronological information on all things Greeves.

'Greeves - The Complete Story', by Colin Sparrow.

At all reputable, as well as disreputable book stores, with downloads available...

The purpose of the photo on page 80 is to illustrate the introduction (in 1960) of the one-piece rear subframe on the Hawkstone.

The same design carried on being used on scramblers and trials bikes (with minor mods depending on model) right up to 1965. So of course it would have been used on the MDS

That's told me Colin! That one is an MDS though, isn't it, identified by the kicked-up rear loop?

I did plug your book though....

Fair do's Ian - I don't think I knew exactly what model the pictured subframe was from - it's a works photo with no caption or endorsement.

Thanks for the kind words about the book. And I do admit to several other slight inaccuracies - let's hope I get to do a second (corrected) edition.
