Now who knows about Griffon MKII front axels ????

Did they really stuff a MK1 axel in and clamp it to the longer Ceriani forks or has the previous owner done a bodge??
The two fork legs have different diameter holes to accommodate the different diameters on the axel so maybe it was a factory bodge??

        Thanks Kim.
I just spoke to Dave, he thinks it's a bodge

Hi Craig - is the bodge good enough or is it new axle and sleeving......following axle Cerianis are proverbial rocking horse shit ......

I struggled to find any when I had a Mk2 project on a couple of years ago............which came to an end as the guy doing my new swinging arm and frame modifications "disappeared" with my frame .....
          Cheers Kim

Really not good enough as the axel is not long enough to get a nut in the end
I might have found one already???????????

Decided to cheer myself up a bit and set the frame up for the rebuild.
It has a strange setup for the air filter but I am sure it works well and should be easy cleaned.

More pictures of the bike and one showing the spring that goes inside the foam filter.
Now who can help with a filter

                      progress update

Have just fitted the new shocks. I was going to refurbish the girlings but as I plan to actually ride/race/McCoster this bike I went for Rockshocks.
Crankcases and gearbox now fitted to the frame and Was going to clean and polish them up but they will be covered in muck and oil soon enough so a good pressure wash will be enough.
I need to get the fork tubes re-chromed and find correct mudguards and a front axel that fits but apart from that its nearly finished.

Piston, barrel, head, wheels are next.... watch this space

Took the bike off the table and on to the stand ready for the forks and wheels later this week.
Made good progress with the bike by fitting seals, piston, barrel, head, and exhaust.
The seals that I ordered for the crank only the drive side fitted. The ignition side inside diameter was too small so fitted the old one.Its easily changed again when I get the right one. I don't think they are any different from the other griffon seals so not sure what happened there?

Still looking for better looking mudguards and a front axel.

Photos with tank and side panels on.
Need to sort out the cables and wait for the forks and carb to come back from specialists.

Forks taken apart and carb dismantled but in a serious mess.
Lets see what comes back from the carb man.
