John Wakefield's recent post regarding Greeves lapel badges on EBay prompted me to think of starting this thread, so nice one JW!
To get the ball rolling, I thought I'd post a couple of pics of my Greeves and Villiers badge collection. I've been on the lookout for the last five years or so and been fortunate to get hold of a few original and hard to find ones, with some being gifts from fellow GRA members. (Thank you gentlemen, you know who you are! ) It's a fun (and affordable...well, mostly!) thing to do, and I like to think it's another little bit of Greeves history preserved and enjoyed.
The 'Greeves Main Agent' sticker in the last pic is one of my prize finds. It was right at the bottom of an old box of stickers at an autojumble and in a bit of a state, but it cleaned up a treat as you can see. The seller took pity on me (!) and let me have it for 50p!!! I've never seen another, but I guess they must have been pretty common in the dealers back in the day.
Incidently, if anyone has a badge that I don't have in my collection (see pics) and would be happy to part with it (reasonable money please, it's just a bit of fun as far as I'm concerned!), or perhaps you may have a spare, then I'd be very happy to hear from you! (Please send me a PM if you do, and thanks!) I know there are still a good few out there to find, but I reckon it's a cracking collection as it stands and I'm really proud of it. They certainly make for a good conversation peice when we have visitors! Anyway, hope you like the pics.
So, has anyone else got any Greeves memorabilia to share with everyone here on the forum? I'm looking forward to seeing what other items people might have.
Brian.
