  • Shocks for 1968 Challenger?

    Hello, again...
Resuming work on my Challenger/BSA project and I am ready to address the suspension.
    I have a few questions:
    1) What was the stock shock length for the rear?
2)What was the stock shock length for the front leading link?
    3) Are the front shocks essentially a standard shock? If not, what am I looking for, specifically?

    Thanks-
    Johnny

I have a chart of all models. Can you confirm it's an MX4?

      Hi Johnny,

Crikey, it's been a long time since you last posted...welcome back!

I scanned and posted three charts that comprehensively detail Greeves original fitment suspension specs on this thread here, in the GRA Members only 'Help & Advice' area of the forum (see Post #6). http://greeves-riders.org.uk/forums/...ear+suspension

Two are original Greeves Factory Information Sheets and the third is a Girling List.

There's loads more valuable info posted in those sections. Being a GRA Member with full access to the forum certainly has it's advantages.....

      Hope it helps.

      Brian.

            That would be great, Brian.
            Thanks much.

OK, the Girling list is as follows:

Front, 13.9 inch total length, unit serial 4928, spring no 9054/90, rate 54 lbs/inch, unloaded length 9.4 inches.

              Rear, 11.9 total, serial 2015, spring 9054/58, rate 90 lbs/in, length 8.0 inches.

Those are the standard unit figures. If you fall outside the "normal" weight bracket for riders, you may need a different spring, but your supplier will advise.
