Default Greeves Scottish 24TCS Manual

Hi, My name is Ian and I have recently joined the forum. Could anybody help me in locating a workshop manual for my 1960 Scottish 24TCS bike ? Any other info on the bike would be most welcome. The Reg is WET 763. Thanks a lot. Ian

Default TCS Parts Book and Instruction Manual.

Hi Ian, and a warm welcome aboard!

As far as the bike goes there are two documents you could really do with, and good quality copies of both are available to members through the club at modest cost; please see the advert which runs every month in 'Leading Link' (club newsletter.)

I would highly recommend joining the GRA Ian as there is plenty of help, support and information available, and much more besides-don't know how I'd have got on without the club with my own bike...! Incidently, whenever I mention this in a post I don't want people to feel that I'm being pushy about it...! However, people should bear in mind that the forum is primarily a service provided by the club for club members after all. Everyone with an interest in Greeves is very welcome indeed on the forum, of course, but access to archival information (paid for by the members!) is rightly for members only I'm afraid. Without a doubt, the GRA membership fee is the best money I ever spent on my own bike! Besides, without the club there would be no forum! Details on GRA membership, including a downloadable application form can be found on the website-here's a link;

http://www.greeves-riders.org.uk/membership

Anyway, plug over! I make no apology for promoting the GRA and the Greeves name wherever I can, but naturally I also have a duty to protect the club's interests as well. Sorry for the formality Ian, and I hope everyone understands where I'm coming from in saying this.

Right then, to business! The 'Parts Book' is essentially a listing of all the parts for the bike. This is invaluable if you need to track down any bits for your bike, as certain parts were often used on several other models too. Having a note of the part number can help identify if it is suitable for your bike, and overall can help to identify if anything is 'missing', all too common on a fifty year old machine! Another big advantage is that if you need a part and know the part number, the GRA offers a 'factory drawing service' to members. Club members can access this service, again at very modest cost, and if a drawing(s) exists in the (extensive) archive can obtain a copy(s) and be able get the part remanufactured. Incidently, the club also has an excellent spares scheme covering many models.

The 'Instruction Manual', as well as information on maintenance and how to strip/reassemble various items, also contains some very handy schematics and drawings of the 'important' bits, like forks, hubs, wiring diagrams etc.

Greeves 'factory' publications often cover several related models from that model year. 'Original' items occassionally come up for sale on EBay/autojumbles, etc, but often at a price...!

The ones you need are listed below Ian;

'Factory Spare Parts List' (GMC 11), covers;
20TC 20TCS 24TCS

'Instruction and Service Handbook' (for all 1960 Greeves Models), covers;
20TA 20TAS 24TAS 20SAS 24SAS 24DB 25DB 20TC 20TCS 24TCS

As far as the engine goes, Villiers Services (01384 265797) have stocks of both original and copies of the various parts books and Instruction manuals, depending what you have fitted. If it's a 24TCS it should have a 32A with a four speed wide ratio gearbox. There is info on these elswhere on the forum, in the 'Non Greeves Engines' subforum. To save you a bit of time, the two books you'll need for the 32A are as follows;

'Competition and Road-Vehicle Engines Replacement Parts Manual' (V.E.C. 545) Covers; Mark 31C, 2CL, 3L, 9E, 10E, 11E, 31A, 32A, 33A, 34A, 35A, 36A, 37A.

'Competition and Road-Vehicle Engines Maintenance Manual' (V.E.C. 161) Covers; Mark 31C, 2CL, 3L, 9E, 10E, 11E, 31A, 32A, 33A, 34A, 35A, 36A, 37A.

Hope this helps,

Brian.
