They did my 2T engine and gearbox a couple of years ago. Louis did an excellent job - but it was not cheap!

Why do you need it refurbishing? The old saying if its not broke then don't fix it applies.

          Villiers Services Engine Overhaul

You are a bit off the mark re price. I contacted VS for a quotation to O/H at 32a Engine. Having looked at their web site with prices starting from £375+vat I was supprised to be given an estimate of approx £1500.00.I queried this with VS who said that the web site did say prices "from" so I suggest you contact VS if you want a price but I recon you will be looking at about £2k.

My 2T which was in a partially dismantled state when I bought it and needed quite a lot of work (including replacement cylinders and pistons) cost £1100 to rebuild - but that was in 2012...

Its only the crankshaft that needs specialist attention the rest you can easily do yourself. Bearings & most oils seals can be got from a bearing supplier its only the drive side crank oil seal that is special & will have to come from VS.
What is actually wrong with your engine, you only need to replace the parts that are worn or broken.

                  Hi John,
Needs new outer seals and there is an oil leek between gearbox and engine. Clutch needs setting up, relatively minor issues really..

Relatively easy jobs you can do yourself for less than £100, mag side oil seal is a standard size available at a bearing supplier but as I said the drive side one is a special only available from VS, & annoyingly it is fitted from the inside so crank case has to be split. Obviously while you are at it you may as well replace the outer crankshaft bearings again available from a normal bearing supplier.
The leak between the gear box & engine is just the paper gaskets, you probably need to fit more than one as these adjust the distance between the crank shaft & gearbox shaft to set correct adjustment of the primary chain. You can make these (and other paper gaskets) up yourself from gasket paper available at car discount shops. If you do not have a copy its worth buying a 4T workshop manual available here http://www.british-motorcycle-parts....rs_Manuals.htm book 1466 @ £15.
