    Hiya all,
Can anyone tell me what colour the background ovals should be for a 250 griffon 1969 are. They were green when i last raced in 1980. Many thanks. Mick

Mick - assume you mean number plate background colour?

If so for a 250 in the pre74 classs - then it is a black background. With white numbers )

(The 380 Griffon is red plates with white numbers)

Don't confuse as they are vs as they were

Not out of the rule book but copied form the Mortimer regs ....

Pre 60 - Black on White (Although in pre 65 club we are white on Black ?)
Pre 65 - up to 250 - White on Black
                    Pre68 - over 250 - Black on Yellow
Pre 74 - up to 250 White on Black
                    Pre 74 - over 250 - White on Red

Rule 41 of the 2009 AMCA Classic Rulebook Colours of Racing Plates:

White numbers on red plates - Pre 74

White numbers on black plates - Pre 65

Yellow numbers on black plates - Twin shocks

I don't think rule 41 has changed in the last five years, but I may be wrong.

I presume the ACU has its own numbering requirements.
                      John A - 268

                        ovals

Now im really confused. Why are the AMCA regs different to the Mortimer regs. Is it white on black or white on red for a 250. Cheers Mick

That's why I tried to find the current AMCA rules, it's confusing and seem to be incomplete.

                            Clarification

Classic Clubs need more than the two plate option in the rules .
As you are pre74 you should strictly speaking use white on red . I use white on black for a 250 as that is what they used in the day and accepted by pre 65 club and have not had an issue in any meeting
                            Cheers Kim .
