    Sproxton : Festivities

For those folks going to Sproxton and staying Saturday night - I am staying in the Crown Inn - in the village - about 5 mins walk from the track - so will be up for some pre-race beers in the evening (purely medicinal to calm pre-race nerves u understand) . They also have a very decent restaurant and good pub grub. Some of the Northampton MCC folks are normally in the pub the evening before as well
    Cheers Kim

Kim's idea of meeting for a few beers may be a historic event soon! We, in the 4 wheeled comp world, have had whispers that the dreaded drink and drug squad will be visiting more of our kind of events. Late last year one of our top Rally drivers was caught taking banned "medicine" and his licence will be revoked soon. Also the story goes that the drink and drug squad tested the whole of one class at one event.......the under 17 class.....Needless to say, they were all clean!

        Sam Heitman Gutted

Luck seems to have deserted us over the last two years! We spent the off season working on a troublesome misfire that has haunted us since the outset with our Challenger 360, Confident that our troubles are sorted we have been looking forward to the new season.
Not to be, Sam wrenched his shoulder playing in the sand between Christmas and new year, left it until last week to see a specialist, who informed him he needs fairly urgent surgery to mend a tear in the muscle and ligament damage. he goes in just after Easter and will not be able to attempt to ride until Feb next year.
Good luck to all for the 2016 Season.
        Andy

                First round - Marks Tey

Hi Kim, from someone who floundered around and just making it to the finish I thought the weather made for a great meeting. For sure conditions were challenging and sorted the men from us boys, but good fun it was from start to finish. I’ve no idea who came where, or even finished, so look forward to the results and any surviving footage.
Oh, have a great meeting at Sproxton, sorry I won’t be joining you. Apart from being on holiday, I’ll probably still be in the process of getting the Hawkstone clean. See you at Maylandsea on 17th April.

Hi Kim, many thanks for posting the results and video footage.
I'm normally behind you, so don't often feature, just desperately trying to hang on to your coat tails. And that's on a good day!

Great shots at the end of the four guys going for it, you were lucky you didn't get trampled in the stampede. They went past so fast I didn't get a chance to see who they were?
I hadn’t realised that a young Jos Goddard was riding, presumably on his dad’s bike and race number, 507!. At 18 it must have been his first outing with us and very impressive it was too.

I reckon that Griffon of Richard Haywards must be a right dud, he used to get better results on his Hawkstone!

Just finished knocking the worst of the mud off my Hawkstone, only washing, polishing and buffing necessary to finish it off.

Have to add to your thanks to the officials and members of the Pre65 Club for running such enjoyable events, not to mention the Marshals and first aiders who were out there getting a good soaking at times.

Anyway Good luck with getting the gearbox sorted for Sproxton and a better run of luck than at Marks Tey. I'll look forward to seeing the results from there in due course. Oh, you may need a dust filter on the camera.

Lol I think the previous owner has fiddled with it...it's having some more upgrades as we speak so should be faster next time out

Adrian , would now be a good time to mention swapping a carb off a trails bike with the one off your old Griffon and putting that one on the Hawkstone along with all the other performance bits? ........Seriously Richard was pretty quick on it as it is so dreading to think how quick he will be once he has doen his "Upgrades"

The four battlers locking horns were indeed a young Jos Goddard making a brilliant debut on his dads Griffon , our very own Wayward Hayward #401 , Tricky Ricky Widowson #312 and the Goldfish (AKA DAve Watson #775)

Gearbox and Jetting now all sorted on the QUB so hoping that "Bob the Builder #275 " can join the fray at Sproxton !!....which reminds me where is Punchy when we need some Banter

Yes I'll bet. I expect with only 36bhp at the rear wheel, it's in desperate need of some improvement .

Actually, I think he's treating it with the respect it deserves, and with or with out upgrades, we'll see him getting closer to the front as the season progresses.

Being previously known as the Griffon slayer it wouldn't do for him to go b*lls out to quickly, come a purler and slay himself now would it
