  • Re timing 32a

Hi ,can anyone tell me if I have a problem,I’ve set up a light on the points for timing but with the wires connected, the light stays on even with the points open ,it however goes out ok if I take the points wires off it has got a external coil.is this normal.john.ps have a good spark.

Yes you need to disconnect wires to coil as they have a built in resistance. Another way if you dont want to do that is to us a fag paper as it will release at point of opening.

Still on wth this I can’t set the base plate far enough to get the the right time before top dead . At its furthest it is 3.15 mm .poss wrong base plate .any ideas I know I could file the hole in the base plate bigger but that’s not to me right

Have you got the ignition cam on the right way round? There should be a direction arrow one end that goes to the outside. You should not need to file slots.
