  • Britains Diecast Silverstone

    Hi all,

We are all familiar with the Britains model of the Challenger, but I have never heard of a Britains Silverstone model. Was this a production model?

I have attached a photo of the two models, having just picked up the Silverstone. The seller provided no details.

I originally thought it was a modified Challenger model but now I have the model in hand the wheels are different and the rider is not a modified or reworked Challenger rider.

The Silverstone wheels say Britains Ltd on the tyre sidewalls. The wheels are smaller diameter than the Challenger model and the tires have a different tread. The tyres are poorer quality than the ones on my Challenger model. Note also my Challenger model does not have Britains written on them.

Can anyone shed light on the history of the model i have purchased? I have seen nothing like it before, but I'm sure another Greeves owner must have seen or own something similar.

Not sure if I should have put this in the forum here, or in the Silverstone folder.

    Happy for any feedback,

    Regards,

    Peter Barnett

Now, that is interesting. Never come across one of those. Rider looks a bit like Bert Greeves don't you think?

Your thread is in the right place, Peter

      Colin,

Thanks for the reply. Yes the rider does look like Bert Greeves.
It is not a modified Britains Challenger model as it has different size wheels, and the gearbox is also different to the Challenger model.
When I saw this model it was too interesting not to purchase.
So it remains a mystery, and with no other replies so far, I am wondering if this is a prototype and Britains decided to build the Challenger instead?

      regards,

      Peter
