  • MCS Enduro?

Ben Geissel of Hinckley, California is asking if anyone knows anything about a 24MCS/2/16?? unfortunately he has not included the complete frame number so it cant be fully identified, but presumably an export version. Its not as yet on my list. Looks like an enduro version The headlight is not Greeves.

    Hello John,
Thanks for posting this here. I am the new owner of this motorcycle and I purchased it from the second owner. The full VIN is 24MCS21673 and is supposed to be a 1966 as stated on the title. I was told the front 19" Dunlop is original to the motorcycle. The Dunlop is of English origin, not Japanese.

The bile looks like it started life from a dealership called Hockie's in Torrance, California and has lived it's whole life in Southern California. My questions were if the lights and exhaust were original. The entire bike appears to be in original condition and not restored. It is running condition.

Most Greeves lights were Miller on the early ones and Lucas MCH66 on the later ones such as the Ranger and Griffon Enduros (off road models). It looks like someone has just added lights.

Thanks for full frame (VIN) No. Ben. I am not an expert on this model but can answer some of your queries.
The 19" front wheel was standard on the US export model with a larger section Dunlop tyre. (The UK version had a 21 inch wheel with smaller section tyre)
The lights are not original Greeves items, the bike would not have had lights & the exhaust appears to be from a trials bike, with additional 'stinger'. The tank is the same as used on the ISDT model so looks like the bike has been modified at some point for enduro/trail use. The year would be 1962 but may have remained unsold till 1966.
Hopefully others with a better knowledge of this model will also respond.

The dealer looks to have been Charlie Hockie, a well-known ISDT rider. Presumably, he was a dealer within Nick Nicholson's territory and Nick may well have ordered the bikes with that tank for desert riding. You need more range out there! As per my post on Facebook, I think the lights were added later
