    Morning all,
Quick message to let everyone know, visited Tesco's yesterday & they currently have the large can 450ml of WD-40 on half price until 11/10/17, now £2.75.

    A bargain?
    p.s. I don't work for them! Haha!

    Lubrication

In reference to WD-40 - It is a useful penetrating oil, but as a lubricant, it leaves much to be desired. Years ago I worked for the company who manufactured most of the new mechanical fuel pump computers used on fuel dispensers. We loved to see people use WD-40 to lubricate a squeaky shaft on the computer because it would seize within 2 or 3 days. The penetrating qualities of WD-40 would clean the shaft causing the seizure. If you are looking for an effective inexpensive lubricant, get a can of synthetic motor oil, put it into an oil dispensing can and squirt it onto the surface to be lubricated. The lubricating qualities are second to none, and the effective temperature range is much wider than you'll ever need.

Saw a programme on TV some time back where a bloke sprayed it onto himself swearing that it eased his joints and improved his breathing. very funny but not advisable

Yes I agree, good penetrating qualities but would never use as a lubricant as due to its petroleum base elements evaporating leaves a quite minimal oil residue to provide anti-friction benefits - which disperse anyway in a short time.

Best keep a can handy for emergency metal protection (moisture repellent), freeing of fasteners and for removing those awkward sticky labels!

Good luck & best wishes to all those with tight & rusty nuts this Christmas !
