  • TE pump holder?

On my Scottish there are two fixings which look like they should hold a tyre pump? (see photo) Ive never seen a picture of a bike with a pump attached, cannot find a pump that is only 10 inches long and even if I did the gap between the frame and mudguard is only about one inch - can someone enlighten me? Thanks

    Pump lugs

Celebrate the fact that they have not been cut off!!
No doubt someone can guide you to the correct pump.

You need to go to a bicycle shop to find a suitable pump. I think that most riders cut them off as they were in the way when lifting the bike after a fall or being stuck.

The pump tended to fall off if not secured by tie wraps, tape, or good old fashioned inner tube bands.
As Brian has suggested a good bike shop may turn up the right size.

Thanks folks - will endeavour to seek a suitable pump - in my opinion just adds a bit of authenticity (don't think I'd actually want to spend ages trying to inflate a flate rear with such a small pump though)

Just had a look - even the factory photos (TE, TES) don't show a pump, although the pump brackets are clearly visible.

Perhaps the buyer had to buy one himself...

              Roadsters too

The roadsters also have pump brackets for a 14" pump but there is not enough space under the seat to fit one even if you can find one the correct length. I think 'back in the day' there was a 14" pump manufactured (probably by Bluemels) for motorcycles, most roadsters of the time had a pump brackets.

Mine is under the fuel tank, on my 24TCS
Bike pump from cycle shop and painted moorland blue.
                Many years ago now.
Pump was held by cut push bike inner tube bands.
Pump still sits in tool box on bench. Taken to Trials as pump.

                  TE/TES Pump Holder

                  Mark,

Attached find a photo of my Greeves with a pump. The pump is the diameter of a normal bicycle pump but shorter. The hose slides inside the handle just like a normal bicycle pump.
I found mine on an auction site advertised as a moped pump. It's black plastic with no makers name.
                  Hope this is some interest,
                  Peter.

Many Thanks - could you tell me the length of the pump on your bike Peter so that I know exactly what to look for. These short pumps are really hard to find

                      Pump Dimensions

                      Mark,

My pump is 250 mm long (10 inches) when the pump handle and pump body are pushed hard together so the spring under the handle is fully compressed.

With the spring under the handle not compressed the pump length becomes 280 mm.

The distance from point to point on the frame lugs is 255 mm

                      Regards,

                      Peter.

Me too, plus 2 pairs of the little pointy frame lugs to go with them!

After much searching - a pump that fits the TE (once some small detachable innards removed and put in toolbox to be carried on bike) and not an unreasonable price either! (probably fits other Greeves too)
