  • Villiers Services.

I spent an enjoyable couple of hours in their stockroom yesterday looking for a part for my Greeves. I was given free rein to browse to my hearts contact by Steve the proprietor. "Bring a torch!" If you into Greeves, Dot, Cotton or any other bike powered by a Villiers engine it is must. You only get to browse though if it isn't a catalogued item - and a huge lot isn't! In my case I was looking for Pathfinder part. I didn't find it unfortunately - but what a great time.

    Recommended!

Wish you'd told me that earlier David......

Yeah, he's a good egg is Steve, and he's always looked after me a treat too. Pretty tasty rider as well.

I've attached a pic of him that Colin S shared with me, taken at Battlesbridge back in 2009 when he was manning his stall between races....sorry, 'demo laps'....!! (Steve is on the right in the pic.)

I should have taken orders Brian!

They had just finished a 197cc 6e Villiers trials bike and demoed it in the yard. It had had an ultra low 1st gear made for it and it was probably as nice a bike as I had seen from that era. Steve reckoned with what they had done to it, that it was a better trials motor than the 250's. It was going over to the island to compete in the Manx two day trial.

He is a fisherman like me too, and we had a good blether about things other than motorbikes.

      Regards,
      David.

        I smell petrol....(or at least I did....!!)

Nice one David, and isn't it great to have other stuff in common to natter about as well.

In my opinion, that's something that the 'Off Topic Chat' area of our fantastic forum is just perfect for.....and WHY NOT!!!

        Brian.

PS AS far as I know, this is all just my silly little chuckle muscle working overtime, as usual, and Villiers Services has NOT been burnt to the ground by a miscreant monkey who's stupidly been given a box of Swan Vestas.....rest easy folks, it's business as usual I'm sure! Besides, just like Dangerous Dicky Faggetter, I'm not allowed to play with matches anymore...not after what happened the last time.....
