On arriving at the Battlesbridge Show, we were informed that Dave was seriously ill and unconscious in Ipswich hospital following a stroke he suffered on Monday. Sadly, later in the morning came the news that we had been dreading, Dave had slipped away. In order to pay our respects and honour someone who means so much to the GRA, Greeves enthusiasts everywhere and many others besides, we held a line-up of riders on the circuit. Terry Sewell conducted a 1 minutes silence and then the bare-headed riders commenced a slow lap of the circuit. Appropriately, this was lead by a 1954 DOT, probably very similar to the machine on which Dave started his illustrious career.
A very friendly man with a word for everyone, Dave will be sorely missed, especially at Telford where he seemed to be everywhere at once.
Dave, you will live on in our hearts and minds.
